Stoneham Fire Department Collecting Toys for Local Children in Need
STONEHAM — The Stoneham Fire Department and Town Clerk’s Office are once again working to ensure every child has a happy holiday this season by collecting toys for those in need.
Every year, the Stoneham Firefighters Association gathers gifts to donate to Toys for Local Children — a Somerville based organization dedicated to making holiday wishes come true for families in the area.
Stoneham residents in need of assistance this year are encouraged to fill out a form at the Town Clerk’s Office, 35 Central St. Forms must be submitted to the town by Dec. 15.
Toy collection boxes have been set up at the fire station, 25 Central St., along with the Town Clerk’s Office, police station, library, Stoneham Bank and Salem Five Bank.
Those who are interested in donating can bring new, unwrapped toys to any of the collection box locations. Gifts are most needed for children ages 10-16. Gift cards are great contributions for anyone who would like to help, but is struggling with an idea.
Toys can be dropped off at the fire station until Dec. 24, however, gifts to all other locations should be dropped off by Dec. 19.
“We’re happy to help children in need in whatever ways we can, especially if it means helping them have a happy holiday,” Chief Matthew Grafton said. “I commend the Stoneham Firefighters Association for working with Toys for Local Children, town departments and local businesses to make this happen every year.”
Anyone with questions should contact Firefighter Michael Labriola or Firefighter Dan Kelleher at the Stoneham Fire Department, 781-438-0127.
