Easton Police and Fire Departments Honored by U.S. Postal Service with First Responder Stamps
EASTON — Police Chief Gary Sullivan and Fire Chief Kevin Partridge are pleased to announce that the Easton Police and Fire Departments were honored yesterday by the town’s postmasters with new stamps celebrating the service of first responders.
North Easton Postmaster Diane Watson and South Easton Postmaster Steve Guthrie presented Police Chief Sullivan and Fire Chief Partridge each with a framed commemorative award featuring the stamps, which depict an artist’s illustration of a red-colored firefighter, a white-colored paramedic and a blue-colored police officer.
The ceremony was held at the shared Easton police station and fire station on Lothrop Street on Thursday, Oct. 11.
“This is such a great gesture from our local post offices,” Police Chief Sullivan said. “The stamp design was beautifully done and it’s really nice to be recognized by our friends at the USPS.”
The Honoring First Responders Forever stamp was released by the U.S. Postal Service on Sept. 13.
Artist Brian Stauffer worked with art director and designer Antonio Alcalá and designer Ricky Altizer to create the stamp. As a contributing artist to The New York Times, Time Magazine, The New Yorker and other publications worldwide, Stauffer’s illustrations are best known for bridging traditional and digital realms to create a conceptual take on social issues, according to the USPS.
“A special thank you to both of Easton’s postmasters, Diane Watson and Steve Guthrie, for their presentation,” Fire Chief Partridge said. “The framed, enlarged stamp will look really great in the lobby of our station.”
