Kearsarge Middle School Students’ Work to be Displayed at Whipple Hall
NEW LONDON — Superintendent Winfried Feneberg is pleased to announce that Kearsarge Regional Middle School students’ artwork will be featured at an upcoming exhibition.
Beginning Friday, Nov. 2, artwork will be on display at the Center for the Arts at Whipple Hall in New London. Pieces will remain on display through the end of January.
Students completed individual projects along an assigned theme, with sixth grade students focusing on watercolor landscapes, while seventh grade students enlarged comics as part of their ongoing study of scale. Eighth grade students are currently studying 20th century art history, so their resulting projects were heavily reminiscent of the work of Andy Warhol and the Pop Art movement.
“Each student was able to express themselves in their own unique way, and I’m so excited that they’ll be able to share their work with the community,” art teacher Karla Salathe said. “The sixth graders’ projects were imaginative and playful, while the seventh graders’ were bold and whimsical and the eight graders’ were bright and colorful.”
The work of 34 students will be on display at Whipple Hall, 25 Seamans Road, New London, for three months. The gallery is free and open to the public.
