MANCHESTER-BY-THE-SEA — Department of Public Works Director Charles Dam would like to notify the community that construction for a pipe replacement project will begin later this month.

On Oct. 10, crews will be on School Street to conduct exploratory test pits, which are used to verify clearance and depth of exiting utilities. Beginning Oct. 22, construction crews will be on Burnham Lane, Friend Street and School Street, from Sacred Heart and St. John the Baptist church to Sawmill Brook, replacing an undersized drainage pipe with a larger pipe that will be better equipped to handle the town’s runoff.

Work will occur Monday through Friday, from approximately 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. During this time, alternating lanes of traffic will be in place around the work zone. Police details will be in place to assist with traffic flow.

Drivers are encourage to use alternate routes during construction.
