Manchester-by-the-Sea Town Planner Sue Brown Reminds Residents of Planning Board Inquiries Process

MANCHESTER-BY-THE-SEA — Town Planner Sue Brown would like to remind residents of the process for submitting applications to the Planning Board.

Residents should contact Brown, who has held the position of Town Planner since 2015, for all inquiries related to locating, completing and submitting applications to the Planning Board.

For many years, Administrative Assistant Helene Shaw Kwasie led this process, on top of her other duties. Since 1991, Kwasie has attended all Planning Board meetings, recording minutes, along with preparing and distributing materials to the board and other town boards whenever required. As the sole staff member to the Planning Board, Kwasie also fielded questions from citizens and potential applicants on the permitting process and the town’s zoning and subdivision regulations.

With Brown now being the point of contact for the application process, and available to answer general zoning and development questions, Kwasie is able to dedicate herself to her administrative duties.

“Helene’s knowledge of state and local zoning is superior, and more impressive is her deep recollection of projects, decisions, issues and initiatives spanning more than two decades,” Brown said. “I appreciate community members’ patience as both Helene and I transition into our new roles.”

Residents can still expect to see Kwasie at Planning Board meetings, and she’ll remain a steady presence within the Planning Department.
