Arlington Police to Participate in National Coffee with a Cop Day
ARLINGTON — Chief Frederick Ryan is pleased to announce that the Arlington Police Department will be participating in National Coffee with a Cop Day next week.
“Coffee with a Cop is a great community-based program that allows our officers to meet face-to-face with residents in a low-key setting to talk about what is important to them and the issues they are facing,” Chief Ryan said. “We hope to see many community members at the Kickstand Cafe next week.”
WHEN:
Wednesday, Oct. 3, from 9-11 a.m.
WHERE:
Kickstand Cafe, 594 Mass Ave., Arlington
WHAT:
Residents, business owners and community members are invited to meet with Arlington Police officers to engage in meaningful conversation over a cup of coffee — or two.
There is no set agenda for the event, but rather a chance for residents to meet the officers who serve their community, ask questions and express any concerns they may have.
The event is part of National Coffee with a Cop Day, conducted in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.
The first Coffee with a Cop event was held in 2011 by the Hawthorne Police Department in California. The initiative has since spread globally as a simple but effective method of bringing police and communities together.
