Fairhaven Police Charge Three With Drug Offenses
FAIRHAVEN — Lt. Kevin Kobza reports that the Fairhaven Police Department filed drug charges this week against three individuals stemming from an arrest officers made last week.
NATHANIEL OJURI, AGE 24, and ISAAC GEDEON, AGE 18, BOTH OF NEW BEDFORD were summonsed to court on the charge of Possession of Marijuana With Intent to Distribute (Subsequent Offense). KATHERINE DELTORTO, AGE 39, OF FALMOUTH will be summonsed to court on charges of Possession of Heroin and Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws.
At approximately noon Wednesday, Sept. 5, at a shopping plaza in town, Fairhaven Police detectives observed individuals engaged in activity that they recognized as being consistent with conducting a drug transaction.
Following an on-scene investigation, Fairhaven Police arrested DOMINIQUE KING, AGE 33, OF NEW BEDFORD and charged him with Trafficking Over 18 Grams of Heroin and Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws after he had allegedly sold heroin to a female party, who was later identified as DELTORTO.
Following the alleged heroin transaction, KING was picked up by OJURI and GEDEON. After KING was taken into custody, Fairhaven Police detectives determined that OJURI and GEDEON were in possession of just under two pounds of marijuana and over $1,700 in cash.
OJURI and DELTORTO are due in Third District Court Oct. 5 for a clerk magistrate’s hearing.
Detectives seized over 28 grams of heroin and more than $600 in cash from KING during last week’s arrest, and he was subsequently arraigned at Third District Court and ordered held pending a dangerousness hearing on Sept. 13.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
