Whittier Tech Raises $19,000 to Benefit Students During Second Annual Golf Tournament
HAVERHILL — Superintendent Maureen Lynch is pleased to announce that the Whittier Tech Educational Foundation raised $19,000 through the support of its sponsors and golfers at its second annual golf tournament.
One hundred and twelve golfers gathered at the Bradford Country Club, 201 Chadwick Road, Haverhill, for a round of golf on Aug. 16. As they played their way through the picturesque 18-hole course, golfers had the opportunity to take part in a hole-in-one contest, a golf cannon and putting competition.
“All the money we raised from the tournament directly benefits students here at Whittier Tech,” Superintendent Lynch said. “This fundraiser is something that’s really important to us and we want to thank everyone who contributed to make it such a success.”
The Whittier Tech Educational Foundation works to provide additional financial resources and community support to Whittier students. As Whittier prepares its students to be successful, all efforts of the foundation are centered around student achievement, learning opportunities and educator support.
Last year, the foundation assisted students in all grades with educational and financial needs by:
- Awarding 10 scholarships to the class of 2018
- Purchasing and providing work clothing, tools and other equipment for shop and co-op experiences
- Gifting food and clothing to more than 75 students and families during the holiday season
Superintendent Lynch would like to thank all teams who participated in the friendly competition, the community sponsors who donated and Whittier’s Vocational Coordinator, Beverly DeSalvo, who helped organize the event.
