Methuen Police Celebrate Lt. Frank Korn’s Retirement

METHUEN — Chief Joseph Solomon is pleased to announce that the Methuen Police Department recently celebrated the retirement of Lt. Frank Korn after 32 years of dedicated service.

Lt. Korn retired on July 31, and a ceremony was held to celebrate his retirement this week at the police station. He was presented with a plaque from Chief Solomon and a city citation from Mayor James Jajuga.

Since 1986, Lt. Korn worked his way up the ranks and held positions within the Field Operations Bureau, the Support Services Bureau, the Training Unit and eventually the Court Services Unit, where he served until his retirement.

Lt. Korn is a certified firearms and Taser instructor with the Massachusetts Criminal Justice Training Council and was a department sniper.

“During Frank’s 32-plus years of service with the Methuen Police he had unbelievable work ethic the whole time. Never, ever did you see him sitting down on the job. One of Frank’s greatest assets is his ability teach and help younger officers develop. He taught me a lot of skills and helped me get through the academy shooting on the range,” Chief Solomon said. “More importantly, knowing Frank all these years, he is a great person. He is the epitome of what we want in policing: A caring individual who is willing to help you. I think that’s the art of being a great police officer. You have the skills and ability to talk to people as a person and help them through any crisis they have. I’ve seen him do it hundreds of times, and not just with the public, but among his fellow officers as well. He was really a great mentor to all of us.”

Mayor Jajuga wished Lt. Korn all the best in his retirement.

“You never realize until you retire how valuable being a police officer really is to the outside world, outside of the public safety sector,” Mayor Jajuga said. “You are valuable. Please don’t ever sell yourself short. There is a life outside of this job. Enjoy it and congratulations on your retirement.”
