East Bridgewater Fire Department Extinguishes House Fire
EAST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Timothy Harhen reports that the East Bridgewater Fire Department extinguished a house fire early Friday morning.
At approximately 2:30 a.m., the East Bridgewater Fire Department received a 911 call reporting a fire at 7 Fieldscrest Landing.
Upon arrival heavy fire was showing from the rear and right side of the one-and-a-half story single-family home, with an attached garage.
Both occupants were awoken by smoke detectors sounding and were able to escape to safety. One occupant, a 32-year-old woman, was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation but declined further medical attention.
The first arriving engine company, under the command of Lt. Matthew Leighton, was able to knock down most of the heavy fire on the first floor before additional personnel arrived to fully extinguish the flames.
The house sustained significant fire damage to the first floor and heat and smoke damage to the second floor.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the fire started in the kitchen and is not considered suspicious. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the East Bridgewater Fire Department and State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Mutual aid was provided by fire departments from Whitman, Bridgewater and West Bridgewater at the scene and Halifax Fire provided station coverage.
No injuries were reported to fire service personnel.
