Georgetown Police Arrest Man On Multiple Firearm and Drug Charges
Officers Seize Assault Rifle, Fentanyl, Cocaine and Marijuana Plants Following Execution of Search Warrant
GEORGETOWN — Chief Donald C. Cudmore reports that the Georgetown Police Department arrested a man yesterday on 16 firearm and drug charges following an extensive, month-long investigation.
WILLIAM JEAN, AGE 26, OF GEORGETOWN is charged with:
- Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Without a License to Carry
- Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device (two counts)
- Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card (two counts)
- Trafficking of Fentanyl
- Trafficking of Cocaine
- Possession of a Dangerous Weapon (three counts)
- Distribution of Class B Drugs
- Distribution of Class D Substance, Subsequent Offense
- Possession of Class C Drugs
- Possession of more than 12 Marijuana Plants
- Possession of Counterfeit Currency
On July 24 at 7:45 a.m., following an in-depth investigation, Georgetown Police Detectives executed a search warrant at 7 Charles St. and discovered a loaded AR-15 assault rifle, a handgun and a room full of drugs and manufacturing equipment. Detectives from the Topsfield, Ipswich, Rowley, Newbury and Salisbury Police Departments assisted Georgetown Police with the search.
As a result of the search, JEAN was placed under arrest. He was booked and transported to Haverhill District Court for arraignment.
“No city or town is immune to gun violence and the drug epidemic, and the Georgetown Police Department will continue to be vigilant to combat these crimes and keep our community safe,” Chief Cudmore said. “I want to commend Georgetown Detective Sgt. James Rodden and Detective Matthew Carapellucci, who both did a phenomenal job with this very complex investigation.”
