Saugus Police Investigating Essex Street Crash

SAUGUS — Police Chief Domenic J. DiMella reports that the Saugus Police Department responded to a crash on Essex Street this morning.

At 10:54 a.m., Saugus Police were dispatched to the area of 226 Essex St. for a report of a crash. Upon arrival, officers observed that a Ford truck, with a trailer attached, and a Toyota Camry had collided.

First responders worked to free the driver of the Camry from their vehicle using hydraulic rescue tools. The driver of the Camry was then transported to Massachusetts General Hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. The driver of the truck was not injured.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the Camry may have crossed the center line on Essex Street and sideswiped the oncoming truck. The crash remains under active investigation by the Saugus Police Department.
