Chelmsford Police Investigating Crash Involving Motorcycle
CHELMSFORD — Chief James M. Spinney reports that the Chelmsford Police Department responded to a serious two-vehicle crash Tuesday evening involving a motorcycle.
Chelmsford Police and Fire responded at 7:20 p.m. to the intersection of Acton Road and High Street. Upon arrival, police officers and firefighters found that a 2010 Mazda CX9 sport utility vehicle and a 2003 Honda CBR 600 motorcycle had crashed.
The motorcycle operator, a 21-year-old Lowell man, was seriously injured. He was taken by ambulance to Lowell General Hospital with injuries that are considered life-threatening.
The driver of the Mazda, a 41-year-old Chelmsford man, remained at the scene and was not injured. The crash is under investigation by the Chelmsford Police Department.
In addition to Chelmsford Police and Fire, Trinity EMS and Lowell General Hospital Paramedics responded to the scene.
The posted speed limit in the area where the crash occurred is 25 mph.
