Seabrook Man Sentenced for Domestic Violence
BRENTWOOD, N.H. — Rockingham County Attorney Patricia G. Conway announces that a teenage defendant will serve prison time after pleading guilty to five charges of domestic violence following his arrest and indictment on a pattern of assault behavior on his girlfriend.
JUSTIN PRAMAS, 18, OF SEABROOK was sentenced by Judge Andrew Schulman to serve 3-6 years in prison with one year suspended and will have an additional 3 1/2 to 7 year sentence suspended for three years upon his release.
PRAMAS entered a guilty plea to five charges including:
- Second Degree Assault by Means of Strangulation-Domestic Violence (Three counts)
- Reckless Conduct with a Deadly Weapon
- False Imprisonment-Domestic Violence
The charges stem from a pattern of behavior from September to November 2017 in which PRAMAS strangled his 18-year-old girlfriend, hit her with a baseball bat and held her against her will at one point at knife-point.
These incidents occurred in Portsmouth, Seabrook and Rye.
During the pendency of the case there were two separate occasions in which the State moved to revoke bail due his violating conditions. His bail was revoked in May.
At sentencing, defense counsel argued for a 6 month jail sentence with additional suspended time. The state had asked for 3-6 years with an additional 7-14 suspended. Upon his release, PRAMAS will be required to complete a batterers intervention program and a mental health evaluation with follow-up.
“It sends a strong message to victims and to the community when domestic abusers admit their guilt. The defendant in this case will not only serve jail time, but there will be significant follow-up,” County Attorney Conway said. “Domestic violence is not the fault of the victim, and this staggering abuse and violence has no place in our communities.”
Assistant County Attorney John Mara represented the State. Kate Winter served as the victim witness coordinator on this case. PRAMAS was represented by Sydney Hanson.
