Winthrop Police Invite Residents to Summer Events
WINTHROP — Police Chief Terence M. Delehanty and the Winthrop Police invite the public to a multiple community events they are are hosting in cooperation with different organizations this summer.
Winthrop “Hah-bah” Day
WHERE:
Town Landing
WHEN:
Tuesday, June 12 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
WHAT:
The Winthrop Police Department is co-sponsoring Winthrop Hah-bah Day, a family-oriented, community-building event, to celebrate Winthrop’s waterfront.
The first 250 people to arrive will receive a free hot dog or burger with chips and a drink. Jim Feeley and the Refugees will be performing, while local artists will be displaying and selling their artwork. Community organizations, recreational clubs and associations will also be on hand throughout the evening.
Valkyrie, Winthrop’s town ferry, will be offering free 20-minute cruises around the harbor at 7:30 and 8:00 p.m.
The evening will also feature a short group bike ride sponsored y Bike Winthrop. The ride will depart from the festival at 6:30 p.m.
Winthrop Taxi is offering complimentary taxi rides to and from the landing from anywhere in Winthrop between 6-9 p.m.
Park Nights
- Thursday, June 14 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. – Pico Park
- Thursday, June 21 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. – Pond Street Park
- Thursday, June 28 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. – Ingleside Park
WHAT:
In conjunction with the Winthrop Parks Department, the Winthrop Police will be holding Park Nights and invite families to take part. At the first Park Night, on Thursday, June 7, Winthrop Police gave away more than 60 free bike helmets, and more will be available at upcoming park nights (while supplies last).
The events will also feature free barbecues with hot dogs and hamburgers.
Funding for police department participation in these community events has been made available by the Speaker of the House, Rep. Robert A. DeLeo.
