Man Sought by Bridgewater Police Arrested at Norton Hotel
BRIDGEWATER — Bridgewater Police Chief Christopher D. Delmonte and Norton Police Chief Brian Clark report that a man, who had been actively sought by Bridgewater Police since Friday, May 25, was arrested in Norton early Thursday morning.
MICHAEL W. LOWDEN, AGE 20, OF BRIDGEWATER was wanted on the following charges out of Bridgewater:
- Assault & Battery on a Police Officer (Six Counts)
- Assault and Battery While Attempting to Disarm a Police Officer
- Resisting Arrest
- Disorderly Conduct
He is expected to be arraigned in Brockton District Court today.
At approximately 6:50 a.m. today, Norton Police were notified by an individual who recognized LOWDEN’S face on news reports saying that police were seeking his arrest. The subsequent investigation determined that LOWDEN was staying at the Extended Stay America hotel, 280 South Washington St., Norton.
Norton Police Sgt. James Franco, Detective Nicolas Precourt, Officer David Schepis and Officer Keith Kennedy responded to the hotel and placed LOWDEN under arrest without incident.
Inside LOWDEN’S hotel room, police located and seized 73.5 Xanax pills, 12.5 ounces of marijuana, a digital scale, drug packaging materials and approximately $2,100 cash.
LOWDEN will be charged by Norton Police with:
- Possession of a Class D Drug with Intent to Distribute (Marijuana)
- Possession of a Class E with Intent to Distribute (Xanax)
The Bridgewater Police Department was actively searching for LOWDEN for five days after he was arrested for allegedly assaulting police officers last week and did not appear for his arraignment in court on Friday, May 25.
On Thursday, May 24, LOWDEN was arrested by Bridgewater Police and became combative with officers. As he was being led down a flight of stairs in a Pleasant Street home, he allegedly dragged an officer down the stairs, injuring the officer. LOWDEN posted $1,540 bail to be released that night and had a warrant issued for his arrest the next day when he failed to appear in court for his arraignment.
Following his arrest this morning, LOWDEN was held without bail pending his arraignment at Brockton District Court.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
