Andover Police Investigating Threat Involving Phillips Academy
ANDOVER — Chief Patrick Keefe reports that the Andover Police Department is investigating a threat that was made yesterday involving Phillips Academy.
On Wednesday, May 30, at approximately 5:45 p.m., Andover Police received a call regarding a concerning email that was sent to a Phillips Academy administrator.
After an initial investigation, police determined that the school was not specifically mentioned, though the anonymous email contained screenshots of social media posts that made threats to harm others.
Upon further investigation, police were able to determine that the social media posts were made on an account from someone in Pembroke, New Hampshire.
The campus at Phillips Academy, a private school in Andover, remains open, though final exams were cancelled today. All scheduled events this afternoon and evening will continue as planned.
Out of an abundance of caution, Andover Police have an increased presence on the Phillips Academy campus and all Andover Public Schools today, and over the next few days, as this investigation continues.
The incident remains under investigation by the Andover Police Department, along with the Pembroke Police Department, federal authorities and the Essex County District Attorney’s Office.
