Ipswich Police Identify Student Who Allegedly Made School Threat

IPSWICH — Chief Paul A. Nikas reports that the Ipswich Police Department has identified an Ipswich student who allegedly sent an email referencing acts of violence at a school.

The Ipswich Middle School student has been interviewed by Ipswich Police Detective Peter Dziadose and by a Special Agent of the FBI. The investigation at this time indicates that the emailed comment was made in jest and that there was no threat or danger to any school. No specific school was mentioned in the email.

On Friday, May 25, Ipswich Police were contact by the FBI about the email.

The investigation determined that the email was sent from a computer inside Ipswich Middle School. Ipswich Public Schools Superintendent Brian Blake was notified of the incident and school staff assisted Ipswich Police in their investigation.

The alleged sender of the email was identified on Saturday, May 26.

Police determined that the threat was not credible.

Chief Nikas would like to thank Special Agent In Charge Harold Shaw of the FBI Boston Office and his local agents, Portland, Maine Chief of Police Michael Sauschuck and his officers and Ipswich Superintendent Brian Blake for assisting the Ipswich Police Department during the investigation.

“Everyone’s quick response and cooperation with the Ipswich Police led to a fast conclusion of this serious incident,” Chief Nikas said. “During these difficult times, this case proves that incidents of this nature must have the full coordination of federal, state, local law enforcement and school districts.”
