Two Rockport Police Officers Graduate from Academy
Community Invited to Reception on April 26
ROCKPORT — Chief John Horvath is pleased to announce that two members of the Rockport Police Department recently completed the recruit training program at the Reading Police Academy and will commence duties as Rockport Police Department patrol officers.
Officers Michael Foote and Keith Militello graduated from the Reading Police Academy on April 11 after more than 22 weeks of training.
“I am extraordinarily proud of Officers Foote and Militello for successfully completing the Reading Police Academy course,” Chief Horvath said. “Our community rightly deserves well-trained and professional police officers who uphold the highest standards of law enforcement, which are drilled down during the intensive academy program. Their accomplishment is a reflection of their dedication to service and public safety.”
In recognition of their achievements and their return to Rockport from the academy, Chief Horvath will host a reception for the two officers on Thursday, April 26 from 1-2:30 p.m. in the Rockport Police Department Community Room, 168 Main St.
The reception will provide the opportunity for community members to meet and speak with Officer Foote and Officer Militello. Friends, family, and members of the Rockport community are all invited to attend. Light refreshments will be provided.
The Reading Police Academy opened in October 1997. It is one of five Municipal Police Training Committee police academies, and it offers complete recruit and in-service police academy courses including a Basic Recruit training and Reserve Intermittent courses, with weekly in-service classes running from September through June each year for veteran police officers. Police officers from 45 communities north of Boston train there regularly. It is located on the site of the Massachusetts Army National Guard’s Camp Curtis.
