Bridgewater Police Arrest Man on Multiple Charges Following Break-In and Struggle With Officers
BRIDGEWATER — Chief Christopher Delmonte reports that the Bridgewater Police Department arrested a man who allegedly broke into an apartment building Monday night and charged him with assaulting multiple officers who were trying to detain him.
MARC RICHARD PARKER, AGE 37, who is currently homeless, was charged with:
- Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime for a Felony
- Trespassing
- Resisting Arrest
- Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (Three Counts)
- Assault and Battery on a Police Officer
- Malicious Destruction of Property Over $250
- Malicious Destruction of Property Under $250 (Two Counts)
- Possession of a Class B Drug (Suboxone)
At approximately 8:30 p.m., Bridgewater Police received a 911 call stating that a man was trying to kick in the front door of an apartment building.
Officers responded to 57 Central Square where they found that the front door had been kicked in.
PARKER, who is known to police, was observed walking out of the door and officers attempted to detain him, though PARKER actively resisted their efforts. More officers responded to the scene and he became more combative and violent.
At one point, PARKER bit an officer’s leg and attempted to bite the face of another. He also kicked multiple officers while wearing steel toed boots. An officer subsequently deployed a Taser and they were able to place him under arrest without further incident.
During a subsequent search, officers found and seized a pill believed to be Suboxone.
Once he was taken into custody, a Bridgewater Fire Department ambulance transported him to a local hospital for evaluation. PARKER was later released from the hospital and booked at the Bridgewater Police station.
The officer that sustained the bite to his leg was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Another officer suffered a back injury, but was not hospitalized.
PARKER is expected to be arraigned on Tuesday at Brockton District Court.
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
