Rockingham County Victim Witness Coordinator Recognized as Champion of Children
BRENTWOOD — Rockingham County Attorney Patricia G. Conway is pleased to announce that Victim Witness Coordinator Kate Winter was recently honored by the Rockingham County Child Advocacy Center (CAC) as a 2018 Champion of Children.
Winter was recognized during an awards ceremony on Thursday, April 5 at the Sheraton Harborside Hotel in Portsmouth, N.H., for her contribution to ensuring the safety, health and well-being of children in the Rockingham community, and for raising awareness about child abuse.
The Rockingham County Attorney’s Office does a significant amount of work with the CAC, as they forensically interview children who have been physically or sexually abused.
“I am enthused that Kate has been recognized by the CAC for her dedication and tremendous work with children,” County Attorney Conway said. “These children come to us after suffering unspeakable harm, often times committed by a loved one, and the compassion and support that Kate provides undoubtedly makes them feel supported. Rockingham County is honored to have Kate as a victim witness coordinator.”
Winter has served as the victim witness coordinator and the co-facilitator of the Rockingham County Sexual Assault Resource Team at the Rockingham County Attorney’s Office since 2014. She began her career in social service in 2000 as an AmeriCorps Promise Fellow and then continued on to become a community service provider, mentoring children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral issues.
