Holbrook Police Chief Reports Power Restored to Thousands in Town
Only About 300 Outages Remain
HOLBROOK — Chief William Smith reports that electricity has been restored to thousands of residents after nearly 90 percent of Holbrook was left without power following Friday’s Winter Storm Riley.
Power was restored to the majority of residents between Sunday night and Monday morning. Holbrook has about 10,800 residents.
“I want to thank National Grid for their diligent efforts in getting power back to many of our homes, businesses and schools,” Chief Smith said. “They are continuing to work hard throughout the town and I thank our residents for their patience during this time.”
As of about 4 p.m. Monday, there were about 300 customers who still did not have power in Holbrook. The outages were mostly in the area of Pond Street, Centre Street and Orchard Street. Other neighborhoods were also still impacted.
On Friday, March 2, powerful winds from Winter Storm Riley knocked down trees and utility poles causing hundreds of thousands to lose power across the state.
