Woburn Police Respond After Woman Struck by Falling Tree
WOBURN — Chief Robert J. Ferullo Jr. reports that the Woburn Police Department responded after a woman was struck by a falling tree during Friday afternoon’s severe storm.
At approximately 2:45 p.m., a female pedestrian walking in the area of 675 Main St. was struck by a large falling tree and was subsequently transported to an area hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
The tree also struck and damaged two nearby utility poles. As a result, Main Street is closed indefinitely in the area of Eaton Avenue and traffic has been detoured away from the area. Eversource has responded to the scene and is working to remove wires from the road and repair the damaged poles.
“While the town of Woburn has avoided widespread damage so far, this shows that this is a serious storm,” Mayor Scott Galvin said. “We ask that people only go outside if they absolutely must, and that they take extreme caution while outdoors.”
