Holbrook Police Remind Residents to Secure Vehicles, Belongings
HOLBROOK — Chief William J. Smith and the Holbrook Police Department are reminding residents to secure their vehicles and belongings following several reported motor vehicle break-ins in surrounding towns.
Police believe that the cars broken into were left unlocked in the victims’ driveways. In order to prevent thefts from a motor vehicle, Holbrook Police urge citizens to always lock their vehicles, even if it is in your driveway, and to never leave their belongings, especially those of value, in the car or in plain view. If you must leave belongings in your car unattended, make sure they are stored out of sight in the trunk.
“It is extremely important to always lock your vehicle, even if you think it’s safely parked in your driveway,” Chief Smith said. “Often times, these break-ins occur when the vehicle is left unlocked. The most effective way to deter this type of crime is to make sure that vehicles are locked, and anything of value is removed or stored out of sight and safely secured.”
If the public sees anything out of the ordinary or finds that any of their belongings have been stolen from their vehicle, they are encouraged to call the Holbrook Police Department at 781-767-1212.
