ATTLEBORO — Chief Scott T. Lachance is pleased to announce that Attleboro Firefighter Joseph Krewko graduated from the Massachusetts Firefighter Academy this week.
On Monday, Feb. 26, Firefighter Krewko was among the 37 graduates from 19 fire departments to graduate from the 261st class of the Massachusetts Firefighter Academy. Graduates were recognized at a ceremony at the Department of Fire Services headquarters in Stow.
The 10-week program teaches the essentials of structural firefighting, hazardous material response and flammable liquid and flammable gas firefighting.
Firefighter Krewko, 36, of Plainville is now certified at the Firefighter II and Paramedic I levels. He also earned his certification in hazardous material operation and EMS tactical/care training.
He has been a paramedic for eight years working for STAT Southcoast ambulance service, American Medical Response and for the Fall River Fire Department EMS division.
Firefighter Krewko is assigned to the Attleboro Fire Department’s B Platoon under Deputy Chief Ed Greve.
“Everyone at the department is very proud of Firefighter Krewko for successfully completing this rigorous training program,” Chief Lachance said. “I am confident that he will continue to be a valuable asset to the Attleboro Fire Department and our city.”
The other 36 graduates represented the fire departments of Acton, Beverly, Burlington, Cambridge, Dighton, Dracut, Fairhaven, Falmouth, Framingham, Franklin, Lawrence, Lexington, Medfield, Natick, Norton, Plainville, Seekonk, and Stoughton.
