*Media Advisory* Boxborough Police to Host Senior Scam Seminar
BOXBOROUGH – Chief Warren B. Ryder is pleased to announce that the Boxborough Police Department will be partnering with the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office to host a Senior Fraud and Scam Seminar.
WHEN:
Wednesday, April 4 at 10:15 a.m.
WHERE:
Boxborough Regency, 242 Adams Place
WHAT:
The senior protection forum is designed to alert senior citizens to common scams and schemes that target the elderly, while conveying tips on ways to safeguard finances from exploitation.
The seminar is sponsored by the Boxborough Regency and will include a panel discussion followed by a question and answer session led by Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan. Additional panelists include staff from the Middlesex District Attorney Office’s Elder and Disabled Persons Protection Unit, Chief Ryder, protective service workers the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and Middlesex Savings Bank Manager Karen Spaziante Suzan.
“Unfortunately, the senior population is frequently targeted by criminals who come up with schemes that can appear very real,” Chief Ryder said. “We hope that this seminar will provide helpful information and encourage people to be proactive in preventing themselves from falling victim to a scam. Those of all ages are welcome to attend.”
“We want senior residents to feel confident in their ability to prevent themselves from becoming victims of these schemes,” said Boxborough Council on Aging Coordinator Laura Arsenault. “I would encourage our senior residents to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to learn about how to recognize signs of common scams and how to protect themselves and their personal information.”
This forum is open to anyone who is interested in attending regardless of residency or age.
