At approximately 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Whitman Police detectives were conducting surveillance in the area of Temple Street after receiving reports of recent drug activity there.
During their surveillance the detectives observed two men in a vehicle that pulled into a driveway at a multi-family house on Temple Street.
The detectives observed a woman come out of the house and get into the vehicle for short time before getting back out and going inside.
The detectives believed they had witnessed a drug deal and stopped the vehicle as it drove away from the home.
Through the subsequent investigation, both VANRADER and SADM were placed under arrest.
In searching the vehicle officers found and seized 31 grams of fentanyl, 17 ounces of marijuana, the prescription medications Xanax and Suboxone, a digital scale, drug packaging materials, two cell phones and $3,318 in cash.
Both men were booked at the Whitman Police Department. SADM posted $3040 bail to be released Sunday. VANRADER was held on $5040 bail and was transported to the Plymouth County Correctional Facility.
Both men are expected to be arraigned in Brockton District Court on Monday.
“This was great police work by our detectives who were following up on some leads they had received,” Chief Benton said. “I’m glad we were able to get some of this poison off of our streets and reinforce the fact that drug dealing will not be tolerated in our community.”
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
