Bridgewater Police Charge Man in Stabbing Incident
BRIDGEWATER — Chief Christopher Delmonte reports that the Bridgewater Police Department arrested a man who allegedly stabbed another man during an altercation at a South Street home late Friday night.
ADAM MARTINEZ, AGE 41, OF YORK, MAINE was charged with:
- Armed Assault to Murder
At approximately 11:55 p.m., Bridgewater Police officers responded to 37 South St. after receiving a 911 call from a woman reporting that someone had been stabbed.
When officers arrived, they found two men that appeared to have been involved in a fight. One of the men had suffered multiple stab wounds.
Through the subsequent investigation it was determined that MARTINEZ stabbed a 40-year-old Bridgewater man seven times during the altercation.
The victim suffered stab wounds to his back, neck and arm. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
MARTINEZ had cuts on his hands, which appeared to be the result of using the knife.
Both men were taken by ambulance to local hospitals. The victim was still being treated at the hospital Saturday morning.
A folding knife with a four-inch blade was recovered at the scene and seized as evidence.
MARTINEZ was treated and released to the custody of the Bridgewater Police Department, where he was booked. He is being held on $15,000 bail at the Plymouth County Correctional Facility and is expected to be arraigned Monday at Brockton District Court.
The incident remains under investigation by Bridgewater Police detectives.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
