Arlington Police Arrest Man for Possession and Distribution of Child Pornography
ARLINGTON — Chief Frederick Ryan reports that the Arlington Police Department arrested a man today after a long-term and complex investigation led by an Arlington Police Detective.
BRIAN WORSHAM, AGE 30, OF ARLINGTON was arrested without incident on Wednesday morning after police obtained and served a search warrant at his residence on Oxford Street. He was charged with Possession of Child Pornography and Dissemination of Child Pornography.
Arlington Police Department Inspector James Smith is assigned to the FBI Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force, and he became the lead investigator of this case while working in close cooperation with the FBI. In his career, Inspector Smith has closed numerous cases involving the victimization and exploitation of children who are subjected to violence, human trafficking, sexual abuse, and child pornography.
“The victimization of children is perhaps the cruelest and most contemptible level of crime we encounter as law enforcement professionals, but people like Inspector James Smith and our federal partners in the FBI are on the front lines, stopping these crimes and the criminals who commit them,” Chief Ryan said.
A preliminary investigation found numerous images of child pornography on devices in WORSHAM’S possession. A deeper forensic examination of electronic items seized during the search warrant is now ongoing. At this time, the Arlington Police Department has no reason to believe that any Arlington children have been victimized in this case.
WORSHAM is being held at the Arlington Police Headquarters pending his arraignment Thursday in Cambridge District Court.
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
