Bedford Police Accepting Applications for Citizens Police Academy
BEDFORD, N.H. — Chief John J. Bryfonski is pleased to announce that the Bedford Police Department is now accepting applications for its 2018 Citizens Police Academy.
Bedford Police’s Citizens Academy is designed to provide residents with a comprehensive inside look at the department’s operations and services.
The program will also give participants a deeper understanding of the art and science of 21st century policing, including the training officers undergo and the legal, physical and technical aspects of police work. Graduates will also develop a strong sense of the challenges officers face while carrying out their daily duties.
During the academy, participants will be exposed to virtually every aspect of policing, including — but not limited to — patrol operations, criminal investigations, crime scene processing and forensic evidence collection techniques.
The academy is free to attend and is open to all Bedford residents over the age of 18, as well as Bedford business owners. Space is limited.
“This program gives our residents a chance to see our officers’ diverse set of responsibilities first hand,” Chief Bryfonski said. “I’m eager to welcome this year’s class of academy participants and provide them with a chance to make personal connections with our department.”
Classes begin March 20 and meet each Tuesday from 6:30-9:30 p.m. for 10 weeks at the Bedford Police Department, 55 Constitution Drive. Applicants are required to attend a minimum of eight of the 10 scheduled classes.
Applications are due on or before March 7 and are available online here or at the Safety Complex. They can be submitted via mail, by email to dispatch@bedfordnh.org, or in person at the police station.
