Portsmouth Superintendent and Asst. Superintendent to Host Coffee and Conversation Event
PORTSMOUTH — Superintendent Stephen Zadravec and Assistant Superintendent George Shea would like to invite community members to attend the Portsmouth School Department’s Coffee and Conversation event this month.
WHEN:
Monday, Jan. 29 at 6:30 p.m.
WHERE:
Portsmouth High School library, 50 Andrew Jarvis Drive
WHAT:
To start off the New Year, Superintendent Zadravec and Assistant Superintendent Shea are hosting the second in a series of Coffee and Conversation events for the public.
The informal meetings are designed to give residents, parents, students and staff the opportunity to engage in discussions that are intended to nurture an all inclusive culture in Portsmouth schools.
In November, following the first Coffee and Conversation, Superintendent Zadravec and Assistant Superintendent Shea sent out a reflection piece centered on the district’s core values and how schools can best ensure that all students, faculty and staff feel accepted. (The full reflection can be viewed here).
Additionally, in November, Superintendent Zadravec and Assistant Superintendent Shea issued a survey to community members on the district’s core values. Results from the survey illustrated that respect, kindness, acceptance and empathy should be the four core values to guide the district.
During this month’s event, Superintendent Zadravec and Assistant Superintendent Shea would like to facilitate a discussion on community strategies surrounding the four core values to best determine how students, faculty and staff can collectively act in alignment with them.
“We had a great meeting in the fall with everyone who attended our first Coffee and Conversation, and we want to continue to expand on those discussions at our upcoming event,” Superintendent Zadravec said. “Over the last couple of months, we’ve continued to work on our core values and we’re excited to share and receive feedback from the public. We hope to see everyone there!”
