Easton Police Arrest Woman with Outstanding Warrants Following Rollover Crash
EASTON — Chief Gary Sullivan reports that the Easton Police have arrested a woman who failed to stop for an officer and subsequently crashed her vehicle on Turnpike Street this morning.
JENNIFER CARTER, AGE 42, of ATTLEBORO was charged with:
- Operating a Motor Vehicle With a Suspended License
- Failure to Stop for Police
- Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
CARTER also had multiple outstanding arrest warrants out of Raynham for alleged OUI and possession of a Class A drug.
At approximately 11 a.m., Officer David Lydon was on routine patrol traveling northbound on Turnpike Street (Route 138), near Indian Cove Way.
Officer Lydon conducted a random query of a 2006 Ford Taurus driving in front of him and determined that the registered owner of the vehicle had a suspended license.
When he attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver, later identified as CARTER, continued driving and veered left onto Washington Street, where the road splits with Turnpike Street. Near the 800 block of Washington Street, a short distance later, she attempted to pass the car in front of her and collided with it. CARTER was driving at a normal rate of speed during the brief pursuit.
CARTER’S vehicle went off the right side of the road and turned onto its side, trapping her inside. The car came to rest in the front lawn of an Easton business.
The Easton Fire Department responded and extricated her from the vehicle. She was uninjured, but was taken by ambulance to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton for a precautionary evaluation.
While she was not the registered owner of the vehicle, it was determined that she had a suspended license and the outstanding warrants.
Once she is released from the hospital, CARTER will be taken to the Easton Police Department and booked prior to being arraigned at Taunton District Court.
These are allegations. Suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
