Bridgewater Police Arrest Two Men Involved in Saturday Night Shooting
BRIDGEWATER – Chief Christopher D. Delmonte reports that the Bridgewater Police Department has arrested two men who were allegedly involved in a shooting that left a man with serious injuries.
KEVIN M. O’BRIEN, AGE 34, of BRIDGEWATER and ROBERTO PEREZ, AGE 26, of TAUNTON are both charged with armed assault to murder with a firearm.
They are currently being held without bail pending their arraignment Wednesday in Brockton District Court.
A third individual is expected to be charged with obstruction of justice for allegedly lying to investigators.
O’BRIEN and PEREZ were arrested Tuesday night by Bridgewater Police, with assistance from State Police detectives, after arrest warrants had been issued.
Bridgewater Police and Fire responded to 246 Pleasant St., a very short distance from the Bridgewater police station, on Saturday, Dec. 23, at 6:23 p.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting that someone had been shot.
A woman also came into the police department lobby to report the shooting. Upon arrival, police located the victim, a 29-year-old Bridgewater man, who had been shot twice, once in the forearm and once in the upper thigh area.
The victim was conscious and alert when police officers and firefighters arrived. He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. As of Tuesday, he was recovering from his injuries and is expected to survive.
The investigation indicates that O’BRIEN and PEREZ came to the house, and the victim met them outside of the residence. Shortly afterward, one of the two men allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot the victim twice.
The investigation shows that the shooting was not a random act of violence. The incident remains under investigation by the Bridgewater Police Department, with assistance from State Police detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s office.
“I want to thank the responding officers, and all the detectives that were involved in this case for their determination in seeking the persons responsible for this targeted attack,” Chief Delmonte said. “Due to their efforts we were able to quickly place these dangerous men under arrest.”
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
