Andover Police Arrest Man Who Broke Into Vehicle
ANDOVER — Chief Patrick Keefe reports that a Methuen man was arrested after he allegedly broke into a vehicle early Friday morning.
JAVIER VAZQUEZ, AGE 40, OF METHUEN is charged with:
- Larceny under $250
- Misdemeanor Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime
- Resisting Arrest
VAZQUEZ also had two outstanding warrants for his arrest.
Shortly after midnight on Friday, Dec. 22, Andover Police responded to a report of a car break in the area of Burton Farm Drive and Elm Street.
The vehicle’s owner saw a man rummaging through the car and began to chase him. Through a subsequent investigation, officers identified the suspect as VAZQUEZ and a K-9 officer was called in to help track his whereabouts.
A short time later, VAZQUEZ was found walking on Main Street, near Old Town Hall, and he fled from police. After a brief foot pursuit he was apprehended and placed under arrest.
Upon searching VAZQUEZ, police found a significant amount of spare change and other items believed to be taken out of the unlocked vehicle. The investigation into the property found on VASQUEZ is ongoing.
Residents who believe their vehicles were entered overnight are urged to contact the Andover Police Department at 978-623-0411.
This incident serves as a reminder to residents to always lock their vehicles and to refrain from leaving valuables in their vehicles overnight.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
