Bridgewater Police Department Graduates 21st Citizens Police Academy Class
BRIDGEWATER – Chief Christopher Delmonte is pleased to announce that the Bridgewater Police Department hosted a successful Citizens Police Academy, which concluded last week.
On Wednesday, Dec. 13, 25 students, most of which are residents of Bridgewater, graduated from the 14-week course following a ceremony held at the conclusion of the final classroom session. This was the 21st graduating class taught by the department.
The course was held every Wednesday from Sept. 6 through last week.
Each week, participants learned about a different topic. The program touched on several aspects of the Bridgewater Police Department’s operations including: the investigative process, dispatch procedures, patrol procedures, use of force, drug enforcement and the K-9 unit. They also took trips to the Old Colony Correctional Center and Brockton District Court.
“My congratulations to an outstanding group of local residents who participated this year, and to all the officers who make the program such a success,” Chief Delmonte said. “It’s one of the best ways to provide our residents with education and insight about what our police officers do in the community each and every day.”
Another academy is being planned for next year, but the dates have not yet been determined.
