Whitman Police and Fire to Host Stuff-a-Cruiser, Stuff-an-Ambulance Toy Drive
Donations Collected This Weekend Will Go Directly to Families in Need This Holiday Season
WHITMAN — Police Chief Scott D. Benton and Fire Chief Timothy J. Grenno are pleased to announce the Whitman Police and Fire Departments will host a toy drive this weekend to benefit children and families in need this holiday season.
WHEN:
Sunday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
WHERE:
Whitman Police Department, 20 Essex St., in the side parking lot.
WHAT:
Last year, community members donated enough toys to fill five police cruisers with hundreds of toys. This year, the Whitman Fire Department is joining in on the fun with the hope of collecting even more toys.
The toys collected will go to the Whitman Area Toy Drive, which serves Whitman residents, and those in surrounding communities, to provide presents to families in need during the holiday season. Information about how to receive gifts will be available at the event on Sunday.
Those who wish to donate are asked to bring unwrapped toys to the station to help fill as many Whitman Police and Fire vehicles as possible. The toys can be for boys and girls of all ages. Any type of toy will be accepted, but please, no food items.
“Last year was such a success and I’m really happy to see Chief Grenno and the Fire Department get involved this year,” Chief Benton said. “Hopefully we can collect more toys that will directly go back out to children in Whitman and other nearby towns.”
“Seeing the community come together for such a great cause is something that we’ve been looking forward to all year,” Chief Grenno said. “No child should go without presents for the holidays and hopefully this will play a part in making sure that doesn’t happen.”
