Tyngsborough Police Arrest Juvenile for Bringing Pellet Pistol to School
TYNGSBOROUGH — Deputy Chief Christopher Chronopoulos reports that the Tyngsborough Police Department has arrested a juvenile female after she allegedly brought a pellet pistol to school.
A JUVENILE FEMALE is charged with Carrying a Dangerous Weapon on School Grounds and Disturbing a School Assembly.
On Wednesday, Nov. 15, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Tyngsborough Police responded to the Greater Lowell Technical High School after receiving a report that a student may be in possession of a firearm.
An initial investigation led police to the JUVENILE FEMALE. After a search of her person, police discovered an empty pellet pistol in her backpack. The JUVENILE FEMALE was subsequently taken into custody without incident and was scheduled to be arraigned at the Lowell Juvenile Court.
Following the incident, GLTHS staff sent out an electronic notification to all parents, students and faculty. The student did not threaten anyone and Tyngsborough Police do not believe there was ever any danger to the school community.
“I would like to thank the students, faculty and staff for their patience and cooperation this afternoon,” Deputy Chief Chronopoulos said. “Everyone followed protocol and thankfully, this was resolved without incident.”
