New Chelmsford Police Officer Graduates From Police Academy
CHELMSFORD — Chief James M. Spinney is pleased to announce that Officer Shane Melisi graduated from the 21st class of the Lowell Police Academy.
The ceremony took place on Friday, Nov. 3, with 45 police officers from 16 communities graduating from the academy. The 24-week intensive training program focused on community policing and creating citizen partnerships.
Officer Melisi will now undergo further training over the next three months with the Chelmsford Police Department before joining the department as a full-time officer.
“I want to welcome Officer Melisi to the department and congratulate him on taking the next step toward beginning his career” Chief Spinney said. “We are eager to have him begin work serving the people of Chelmsford.”
The graduation was held at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium, where Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito gave a speech during the ceremony.
Officer Melisi is an Army veteran and Chelmsford resident, who graduated from Chelmsford High School in 2012.
