Holbrook Police to Participate in No-Shave November

HOLBROOK — Chief William Smith announces that members of the Holbrook Police Department will be growing out their facial hair this month as part of No-Shave November.

A nonprofit organization, No-Shave November works to “grow” cancer awareness and raise funds for education, research and prevention.

For the month of November, Holbrook Police Officers who have made at least a $50 donation to the cancer charity of their choice will be permitted to grow beards and goatees. Charities that officers donated to include the Genesis Foundation for Children, the American Cancer Society, the Prostate Cancer Foundation, the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the Movember Foundation. So far, the department has donated $700.

“This fundraiser is a fun way for the department to raise money for a worthy cause and it’s always great to see everyone sporting a beard for the month,” Chief Smith said. “We encourage any community members who wish to participate to join us in growing out their facial hair and donating to a charity that is important to them.
