Winchester Police to Participate in “No-Shave November”
WINCHESTER — Chief Peter MacDonnell announces that members of the Winchester Police Department will once again be growing out their facial hair in support of No-Shave November.
Throughout the month of November, Winchester police officers will be permitted grow beards and goatees in exchange for donating to Home Base, a partnership of the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital that works to help service members, veterans and their families heal from invisible wounds — like traumatic brain injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder — regardless of their financial means or discharge status.
Home Base reported that 500 first responders across 21 cities in Massachusetts raised more than $50,000 through last year’s No-Shave November campaign.
Last November, 18 Winchester Police officers participated and ultimately raised $2,300 for Home Base.
“The work that Home Base does is extremely important and we are proud to show our support for the men and women who defend our freedom,” Chief MacDonnell said. “No-Shave November is a fun way for us to give back, and I expect even more officers to participate this year.”
Residents who would like to support Home Base can do so by making a donation at homebase.org.
