WEST NEWBURY — Chief Art Reed is pleased to announce that West Newbury Police Reserve Officer Kyle Roy earned a letter of commendation at last night’s Board of Selectmen meeting for his lifesaving actions.

Officer Roy acted quickly when he responded to a call to assist a resident who had overdosed and was suffering from respiratory failure. He provided first aid and administered the overdose reversal drug Narcan, reviving the victim and ultimately saving her life.

Chief Reed and the Board of Selectmen presented Officer Roy with a letter of commendation in recognition of his prompt and decisive lifesaving actions.

“Officer Roy’s courage, professionalism and preparedness helped save the life of a resident in need,” Chief Reed said. “I am proud of him for remaining calm and acting quickly when faced with a difficult situation.”
