City of Rochester Pleased to Welcome Back Peter Nourse as Director of Public Works

ROCHESTER — City Manager Daniel Fitzpatrick is very pleased to announce that Peter Nourse is returning to the City of Rochester as director of public works.

Nourse, who previously served in the same position before departing 2 1/2 years ago to serve as DPW director in Gilford, returns to a city that has undergone significant change and modernization over the past several years.

“Peter Nourse is an organized and dedicated professional, and his decision to return to Rochester showcases our city’s status as a destination for talented people to thrive and ply their crafts,” City Manager Fitzpatrick said. “Peter did an excellent job for us in the past, and we have very high expectations for his return to Rochester.” 

The City expects a smooth transition, as Nourse is already familiar with the people and major projects underway in Rochester.

Nourse replaces John Storer, who departed for a new position in Dover after his own successful tenure in Rochester.

“I wish John Storer the very best of luck as he continues to advance his career,” City Manager Fitzpatrick said. “He has helped modernize our city and bring services in Rochester in line with best practices.”

Nourse’s date of hire is Sept. 12. He was selected after a competitive process that includes 18 applicants and three finalists. He will earn $110,000 in his role.
