Wenham Police Department Appoints New Captain
WENHAM — Chief Thomas Perkins is pleased to announce that the Wenham Police Department has appointed a veteran law enforcement officer to serve as the department’s newest captain.
Capt. Kevin J. DiNapoli comes to Wenham from the Hudson, New Hampshire Police Department, where he served for nearly 21 years and held the same rank.
Capt. DiNapoli was hired after a rigorous evaluation process that included an assessment center and input from a screening committee. He stepped into his role on Aug. 21, replacing longtime Capt. Jeffrey Tobey, who retired in January.
Residents can get to know Capt. DiNapoli during a meet and greet at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 26 at Town Hall, 138 Main St. Light refreshments will be served.
“I am extremely excited to see where Capt. DiNapoli’s leadership will take Wenham Police Department,” Chief Perkins said. “He was the top candidate in what was a competitive testing and assessment process, and his experience and knowledge will be a tremendous asset to the department and the community we serve.”
Capt. DiNapoli had served the Hudson Police Department with distinction since 1998, receiving numerous awards and commendations for lifesaving and investigative work. He started as a patrolman in 1997 before becoming a detective in 2001, and also served as the department’s support services sergeant and as patrol lieutenant before becoming a captain in 2015.
Capt. DiNapoli has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Saint Anselm College. His career also includes years as an auxiliary officer in Stoneham and as a patrolman in Raymond, New Hampshire.
