Raynham Police Arrest Man for Attempted Murder
RAYNHAM — Chief James Donovan reports that the Raynham Police Department arrested a man following a workplace violence incident this morning.
JEAN ATTIS, AGE 37, OF TAUNTON is charged with:
- Attempted Murder
- Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (box cutter)
At approximately 11 a.m., Raynham Police received multiple 911 calls from Dotcom Computers Inc., 220 Paramount Drive, reporting a man in the building with a weapon.
While en route to the scene, police learned that an employee of Dotcom had stabbed someone with a box cutter.
Raynham Police, along with the Raynham Fire Department and Taunton Police Department, responded to the scene.
First responders learned that the suspect, later identified as ATTIS, had stabbed his supervisor in the neck with a box cutter following an argument. He was placed under arrest. No other injuries were reported.
The victim, a 51-year-old male from Taunton, was transported via ambulance to an area hospital with serious injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
“I want to commend Dotcom employees for their actions today,” Chief Donovan said. “Despite the dangerous situation, they intervened immediately to prevent further harm to the victim. Working with the Raynham Fire Department and the Taunton Police Department, we were able to prevent a tragedy from occurring.”
ATTIS was booked at the Raynham Police Department and later transported to Taunton District Court for arraignment.
