Bedford Police Department Announces Changes to Student Parking Rules

BEDFORD – The new school year starts Aug. 29 and the Town of Bedford wants to ensure students are aware of the new parking ordinance and permit requirements in effect.

There are three town lots that students used to be able to park that now require a town permit.  The lots are:

  • Sportsman’s Field (Babe Ruth Baseball Field) on Nashua Road
  • 11-13 Nashua Road (Former DPW facility/Little League Field)
  • Town Pool and Recreation Facilities Parking lot on County Road.

Parking for students is not permitted in the lot for the tennis courts, Timber Town or any non-designated student parking area or any other location designated as a no parking zone. Any vehicle parked illegally in violation of the ordinance will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense.

During the first few days of school the police department will have officers at each of the lots at the beginning of the day to assist students and prevent any violations from occurring.

Any student who entered the Bedford High School lottery and who has a valid NH license, but was not awarded a BHS spot can apply for a town permit and are given preference based on their lottery number. Those who did not receive a high school parking lottery number can also apply for a town permit on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Students must go to the Bedford Town Office to obtain a town parking permit in order to be able to park in these lots. Any student wishing to receive a permit must hold a valid NH driver’s license and complete the form available online at www.bedfordnh.org and bring it to the Town Office at 24 North Amherst Rd.

Parking restrictions for these lots apply during school days/hours.

For any additional permitting questions, please call the Town of Bedford Finance Department at 603-472-3550.
