Arlington Police Investigating After Flag Flying Over Local Business Found Burning

ARLINGTON — Chief Frederick Ryan reports that the Arlington Police Department is investigating after a police officer located an American flag on fire this morning.

At approximately 6:15 a.m., an officer on patrol noticed that an American Flag at Minuteman Repair, 111 Massachusetts Ave., was on fire.

The Arlington Fire Department was called in for assistance, however the fire had already burned itself out by the time firefighters arrived. The flag was destroyed.

Additional Arlington Police Officers responded to the scene to search the area for suspects. One man was interviewed on Amsden Street, but following an investigation, police determined he was not connected to the fire.

The Arlington Police Department is actively investigating the incident. Anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have witnessed someone starting the fire, is asked to contact Arlington Police at 781-643-1212.
