Littleton Police Locate Missing Man
LITTLETON — Chief Matthew J. King reports that the Littleton Police Department successfully located a man visiting family in town who had been reported missing Monday evening.
On Aug. 7, at 8:40 p.m., Littleton Police received a report from a resident that their 57-year-old relative visiting from Turkey had gone for a walk at 2:30 p.m., and had not returned home since.
Police began searching for the man, who did not speak English, and requested the assistance of the Groton Police’s K-9 Unit, as well as help from the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing. A reverse 911 call was also made to residents of the Long Lake area of town, where the man was last seen, in an effort to help find the man.
A resident who had been jogging around 5:30 p.m. reported seeing the man, who appeared to be searching for Market Basket, and gave him directions to the store, where he was located by police shortly before 11 p.m.
“We are grateful for the assistance of the Groton Police, State Police and the resident who provided critical information that helped us find this gentlemen,” Chief King said. “I am glad that he was able to be located safely and reunited with his family.”
