Raynham Police Investigating Fatal Head-On Motor Vehicle Crash

RAYNHAM — Chief James Donovan reports that the Raynham Police Department responded to a fatal head-on motor vehicle crash this morning.

At 3:16 a.m., Raynham Police responded to Route 138 (Broadway), in the area of the Raynham Park, on a report of a motor vehicle crash.

Upon arrival, officers learned that a 43-year-old woman from Fall River, who was traveling in the southbound lane of Route 138 in a 1992 Honda Civic, crossed the double yellow center line into the northbound lane, striking a 2011 BMW head on.

The Raynham Fire Department also responded to the scene.

The woman was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the BMW, a 22-year-old male from Boston, was transported via ambulance to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

Both the woman and the 22-year-old were the sole occupants of their vehicles. The Honda and BMW sustained heavy front-end damage and were towed from the scene.

The victim’s name is being held pending notification of next of kin.

This incident remains under investigation by the Raynham Police Department’s reconstruction team and detective unit.
