Methuen Police Investigating after Man is Robbed and Beaten with a Firearm
METHUEN — Police Chief Joseph Solomon reports that the Methuen Police Department is investigating after a bloodied and beaten man entered the police station lobby on Saturday night.
The victim went to the Methuen Police Department at 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, July 8 and reported to police that he had been robbed and beaten on Camden Street while he was sitting in his car waiting for a friend.
The victim, a 36-year-old Boston man, told police that he was sitting in his car when two men approached him and demanded money and the jewelry he was wearing.
One of the suspects was described as heavy set white or light-skinned Hispanic male, wearing glasses, a black baseball cap, black pants, and a sweatshirt.
The second suspect was described as similarly built, with a similar complexion, wearing all black clothing.
The two men entered the back seats of the car, and first suspect displayed a firearm and struck the victim in the forehead. Dazed, the victim put the car in drive and began to drive away, with the suspects still inside the vehicle. The victim was struck several more times, and the suspects grabbed a gold chain he was wearing and ran off.
The victim relayed to police that a third suspect, a tall and thin black male, wearing a black sweater, white t-shirt and red shorts, may have been acting as a lookout during the robbery.
The victim was evaluated by the Methuen Fire Department and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment for injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
The incident is under investigation by Methuen Police Detectives.
