STONEHAM — Chief James McIntyre reports that the Stoneham Police Department is investigating the thefts of wheels from at least three motor vehicles.
On Thursday, May 25 at 7 a.m., an officer was dispatched the Stonehill Towers apartments for a report of larceny of rims and tires. Upon arrival, the officer observed two Honda Accord sport model sedans, a 2015 and a 2017. The 2015 model was missing all four wheels and was partially on the ground, after milk crates had been used to temporarily hold the vehicle up. The officer then found the 2017 in similar condition: all four wheels gone, and milk crates used to prop the car up. That car suffered body panel damage as well, as the car crushed the milk crates and damaged the doors and running boards.
The thefts closely resemble an earlier incident. On Tuesday, May 23, a Stoneham Police officer responded to Albion Avenue and found another 2017 Honda Accord, missing all four wheels, resting on broken milk crates. That vehicle also suffered damage to the doors from the force of the vehicle crushing the sturdy plastic milk crates.
Stoneham Police detectives are actively investigating the thefts, which amount to nearly $12,000 in stolen wheels and tires.
If anyone has any information on these crimes, that are asked to call the Stoneham Police Department at 781-438-1215 or call or text the department’s new crime tips line at 781-832-0292.
